Customizing the “From” Name in Employee Reminders

Employee Reminders gives you flexible control over how messages appear in Slack — including the ability to customize the “From” field so notifications match your organization’s branding and communication style.

This guide explains available options and how to use them effectively.

⭐ What the “From” Field Controls

The From field determines the display name shown at the top of reminder messages.
By default, messages appear to come from Employee Reminders, but paid plans allow you to update this to match your team or department.

Common examples:

  • HR Team
  • Security Operations
  • People Team

This helps employees clearly understand who the message is coming from and increases engagement with reminders.

🔧 How to Customize the “From” field

When sending a new message in Employee Reminders, you can choose how the sender appears.
You’ll see two options:

1. Choose a Custom “From” Name

Use this option if you want the message to come from a team, department, or branded name.

Examples:

  • HR Alerts
  • Facilities Notifications

Enter the custom name directly in the From field while composing your reminder.

2. Send as Yourself

Instead of a custom label, you can choose to send the reminder from your individual Slack account.
This makes the message appear personal and is helpful for announcements that should come directly from you or your role.

🎯 Best Practices

  • Keep the sender name short and clear.
  • Use consistent naming across your internal tools.
  • Department-based names work well for recurring reminders.
  • Personal sending is best for one-off or manager-specific communications.
