Reusable audiences and email imports

An audience is a saved group of Slack recipients. Use a focused group for a department, onboarding cohort or training deadline.

Create and populate an audience

  1. Open Audiences → Create audience in the portal.
  2. Enter a descriptive name, unique within your workspace.
  3. Paste workspace email addresses, or upload a CSV, TSV or text file.
  4. Review the unique-email preview and select Add members.

Imports support files up to 2 MB and up to 5,000 email addresses at a time. The importer matches active users in your Slack workspace, ignores duplicate addresses and existing members, and reports unmatched addresses after import. It does not invite people or create Slack accounts.

Select Refresh Slack directory on the Audiences page if new workspace users are missing. The refresh runs in the background; wait for the worker to finish before retrying an import.

Manage membership

Search members by name or email. Select visible rows individually or with the header checkbox, then remove selected members. Export visible members as CSV. Removing someone from an audience does not remove them from Slack.

Deleting an audience stops it being available for new sends. A schedule that uses a deleted or empty audience pauses when due.

Select people directly in Slack

You can also choose people in the Slack composer, which saves the selection as an audience. Follow-up and retry actions create audiences for their selected recipients.

Scheduling and membership

Scheduled sends use the audience’s current members when delivery is due. Review membership before a planned send, especially if the group has changed since you scheduled it.
